LATE PRESCHOOL ROOM

4 years to Kindergarten

Pre-kindergartners are preparing for the adventure of a lifetime in school. To ensure that each child has the academic tools they will need when entering kindergarten, Kids Country staff prepares exciting lessons and activities to assist children in developing the skills they will need when they reach the classroom.

Small-group instruction, group activities and independent play in an organized atmosphere help children gain the right skills to prepare them for the brand new world kindergarten offers.

THE PROGRAM

Skills focused on in the Late Preschool Room include:

Recognizing/writing letters
Counting numbers
Sequencing and patterns
Basic math skills
Cooperating, negotiating and problem-solving with peers
Recognizing emotions in others

INTERACTIVE SKILLS

As your child gets ready for their experience at kindergarten, interactive skills become a focus for our staff. We promote group cooperation through various games, dances, sing-a-longs, art and crafts, and on our frequent exploration field trips. Children are also encouraged to help teachers and one another with projects and activities throughout the year.

INDEPENDENCE

Our “listening center” is just one tool we use to promote independence and self-initiated reading. Each station is equipped with headphones and various audio stories so your child is able to read along while they listen.

EXPLORATION

Field trips and journeys of discovery are a regular occurrence for our Late Preschoolers. Some of the children’s favorite adventures last year include:

Fire station
Bowling

CONFERENCES

Kids Country makes keeping up with your child’s progress and positive strides easy!

We encourage parent/teacher conferences to track the development of your child

and continue working with you on any special needs.

INTERGENERATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Children at Kids Country are provided with the unique opportunity to build special relationships and learn important lessons as they bond with our “grandmas and grandpas” right here on the Country Manor Campus. Together they enjoy coloring, puzzles, hide-n-seek, singing, story time and many more exciting and exhilarating activities.

CONVENIENCE

Kids Country also offers the convenience of on-site Soo Bahk Do Karate and transportation to and from North Crest Kids Activity Center for gymnastics and/or dance, Sports Sampler for summer recreation and swimming lessons.
